Back in 2018, I embarked on a journey to create the most accurate map I could of Azabu-Juban as it would have been seen through the eyes of Usagi and the rest of the Sailor Moon cast. It wasn’t enough for me to simply know that there was a real Crown or Hikawa shrine, but I wanted to see how the whole world of Sailor Moon fit together.
Without going into the long, drawn out story, the whole process involved finding period-accurate maps and photos of Azabu-Juban in the 1990s, locating the real-life equivalents to popular Sailor Moon landmarks, and working with an artist to get the right look and feel.
Ultimately, I think it came out quite well.
The following locations are featured in the same location where their real life counterpart is located:
- Azabu-Juban Entrance
- Game Center Crown
- Osa-P
- TA Academy for Girls
- Hikawa Shrine
- Sendaizaka
- Fruit Parlor Crown
- … and 3 more anime specific Easter eggs hidden on the map
